On International Peace Day, actress Natalie Portman shared a message honoring Israeli and Palestinian families from the Bereaved Families Forum, praising their choice of reconciliation and peace.
As Europe prepares for a potential conflict with Russia, the Houthis in Yemen consolidate control, and Israel marks nearly three years of security tensions following a recent deadly shooting attack in the Binyamin region, the world observed International Peace Day. Amid this grim reality, actress Natalie Portman dedicated a social media post to Israeli and Palestinian families who have lost loved ones in the ongoing conflict.
In her Instagram story, Portman highlighted the work of the Bereaved Families Forum, writing: On the International Day of Peace, I am thinking of the mothers and fathers of the Bereaved Families Forum—Israeli and Palestinian families who have lost those they love most, and refuse to let their grief turn into more violence. Instead, they sit together, listen to one another, choose reconciliation, and fight for peace.
She continued to praise their grassroots efforts, adding: They do the hardest and most vital work on the ground, reminding us of our shared humanity. I am proud to stand with them, and I hope you will too. This is not the first time Portman has voiced support for the joint Israeli-Palestinian forum, having previously shared their calls to end the war and break the cycle of revenge.
