Naor Zion against Keren Marciano and Channel 12 journalists: "A serious problem of hypocrisy"

Actor and director Naor Zion, known for his outspoken views on public discourse in Israel, is back in the headlines following his sharp criticism of Keren Marciano and other journalists at the Channel 12 news company.

The controversy stems from a monologue by Marciano, in which she addressed a post by Dr. Dubi Luxman attacking Likud voters and people of Mizrahi descent. The anchor publicly condemned the doctor, who was subsequently fired from his senior position, stating:

"I am of Moroccan descent, Dr. Luxman. It does not matter who I vote for, but you are a small and racist person, shame on you. It is very good that Maccabi and Assuta announced your dismissal."

In response, Naor Zion uploaded a video to Instagram, questioning the presenter's sincerity:

"Kudos for the condemnation, but this is not a real condemnation. It is intended to condemn the other side that did not speak up when it was convenient for them. You raise the question of whether shock from racism depends on political position. When you talk about position, you have a very serious problem of hypocrisy."

Zion claimed that Marciano and her colleagues at Channel 12 failed to condemn the behavior of left-wing protesters toward right-wing activist Hadar Muchtar, a vocal supporter of the Prime Minister:

"You did not condemn the terrible things she faced: severe sexual harassment and other abuse. As women, you did not condemn this even once. There is something in this world worse than hypocrisy—hypocritical people who accuse others of hypocrisy."

The comedian added that this reflects the number one disease of the 21st century: a lack of awareness. He argued that the country's biggest problem is that each side demands from the other a standard they are incapable of practicing themselves.
