A night of drinking at the Oktoberfest turned into an extremely expensive hangover for two tourists in Munich, Germany. After returning to the Brack Hotel, one of the guests vomited in the shower, left the water running, and fell asleep, causing a massive flood that resulted in approximately 200,000 euros in damages to the 137-year-old historic building.

The overflowing water flooded room 233 and seeped through the floors, walls, and ceilings. The disaster went unnoticed until 4:45 AM, when water began dripping from the breakfast room ceiling and pouring out of light fixtures and electrical outlets, forcing an emergency power shutdown at the hotel.

Hotel manager Manuela Holzer rushed to the room and found it completely submerged. "First of all, I turned off the shower in the room. The water was a few centimeters deep—you had to walk through it," she recalled.

Despite the chaos, the two guests were still fast asleep. "They didn't even notice I was there," Holzer said. "I had to wake them up first." The hotel now faces extensive restoration work, including replacing carpets, wallpaper, and water-damaged flooring, while one room was declared entirely destroyed and may remain closed for months.
