Moshiko Mor returns to the stage after 18 months: Court issues ruling
Following nearly a year and a half of legal proceedings, including house arrest, the Supreme Court has granted singer Moshiko Mor permission to resume performing at private events.
After 16 months under house arrest with electronic monitoring, the District Court granted the request of Moshiko Mor, who is accused of rape and sodomy, ordering the removal of his electronic tag and allowing him to work under supervision. After the prosecution declined to appeal, Mor removed the tag and shared the moment on social media.
This morning, just a week later, the singer received further significant news. The Supreme Court accepted his appeal and authorized him to return to performing at private events, according to a report by Walla. Despite the approval to remove the electronic tag last week, the court had previously rejected his request to resume his career as a singer.
His attorneys, Romach Shavit and Shosh Hayun, filed an appeal to the Supreme Court, resulting in a decision that allows the singer to return to the stage. The defense argued that since his arrest, Mor's economic situation had deteriorated severely:
"The cancellation of performances, breach of obligations to clients, heavy legal expenses, and the ongoing criminal process have left him with debts of more than one million shekels."
"His vehicles were seized and sold, his children were removed from after-school programs, and he was forced to stop private treatments and rely on family and friends for subsistence," his attorneys added. Mor had requested to convert his authorized leave hours into a single weekly performance, lasting only one hour and conducted under supervision.
Attorneys Romach Shavit, Isabel Fox, Shosh Hayun, and Shlomi Malka, representing Moshiko Mor, stated:
"We welcome and thank the Supreme Court, headed by President Justice Isaac Amit, for the wise and courageous decision, which, contrary to the position of the complainant and the prosecution, allowed Moshiko to return to the forefront of the stage and perform before his large audience of fans."
The easing of Mor's conditions followed recommendations from the Probation Service, which presented data indicating that Mor has been consistent in his therapeutic process, is clean of drugs and alcohol, and has demonstrated commitment to his treatment providers. It was also noted that he has been under house arrest with an electronic tag for over 16 months without any violations.
