The legendary Israeli actor Moni Moshonov, recipient of the Ophir Prize and the Israeli Television Academy Lifetime Achievement Award, recently became the center of a public controversy. A video circulated on social media showing right-wing activist Eliran Simantov attempting to confront Moshonov in public, hurling offensive remarks at him and other veteran actors of his generation.

The Public Confrontation

Simantov approached Moshonov and shouted provocative statements, asking how a man of his age was still active and claiming that veteran artists like Moshonov and Rivka Michaeli "refuse to die." The incident sparked widespread public outrage and dominated media discussions across the country, drawing sharp criticism from journalists, public figures, and cultural icons.

A Yom Kippur Apology

Moshonov and his wife, acclaimed actress Sandra Sade, appeared on the Channel 12 morning program hosted by Niv Raskin to discuss the distressing encounter. They revealed that the activist eventually called them on Yom Kippur to apologize for his shameful behavior.

"The guy called. On Yom Kippur he asked for forgiveness, so we forgave him. I forgave him," Sandra Sade shared during the interview.

When asked if he had fully forgiven the activist, Moshonov admitted that the emotional impact lingered, answering cautiously: "Step by step."
