Since the beginning of the war, 1,318 members of Israel's security forces have lost their lives, according to data published Sunday by the Ministry of Defense. More than 7,150 people have joined the bereaved families since October 7, including 2,143 bereaved parents, 355 widows, 880 orphans, and 3,772 bereaved siblings.

The toll includes personnel from the IDF, Israel Police, Shin Bet, Israel Prison Service, Fire and Rescue Services, and civilian security coordinators who fought in the Gaza Strip, southern and northern fronts, Lebanon, and the West Bank. Civilians murdered on October 7 and subsequently are not included in these figures.

The majority of the fallen are IDF soldiers, with 1,153 deaths recorded, including 43 community security squad members. In addition, 116 Israel Police officers, 9 Shin Bet personnel, 5 firefighters, 11 prison service members, and 24 disabled veterans who passed away due to war-related injuries were recorded.

Arieh Mualem, head of the ministry's Families, Commemoration and Heritage Department, stated: The State of Israel owes a moral debt to those who gave their lives, and this debt becomes a deep and ongoing commitment to the bereaved families.
