How Argentina's Javier Milei Hired an Animal Communicator for Conan
Argentine President Javier Milei hired animal communicator Celia Melamed to connect with his late dog Conan and its clones, linking mysticism to his political ascent.

The unusual bond between Argentine President Javier Milei and his beloved dog Conan did not end even after the animal's death. Celia Melamed, an animal communicator, revealed that she was hired by Milei to communicate with Conan posthumously, and later with the five cloned dogs created from his DNA.
Conan's role in Javier Milei's political trajectory grew as the television commentator became a candidate and eventually the President of Argentina, with the dog elevated to a campaign symbol and later serving as the genetic model for a handful of clones now acting as the nation's first dogs, according to The New York Times.
The Personal Animal Communicator
Following that initial meeting, Celia Melamed became Milei's personal animal communicator, stating she was hired for about two years. Her work included communicating with Conan after his death and with five clones derived from his DNA. She noted that her work concluded years before Milei was elected in 2023, declining to discuss whether she ever passed advice from the dogs to the future president, according to Clarín.
She describes operating from a small apartment in Buenos Aires, relying heavily on remote sessions since the pandemic. Charging $35 an hour to read the emotions and thoughts of pets from photographs, Melamed claims she experiences physical pressure in her own body or perceives scents hinting at a lost animal's location. She added that demand has surged, noting she has trained about 700 people, and even taught Milei's sister, Karina, who displayed high aptitude and later sought guidance before Javier stopped employing her, according to Clarín.
Bedside Encounter
Melamed stated that her first meeting with Milei took place beside a dying English Mastiff named Conan. There, she focused on the energy she felt in her chest and conveyed the owner's desperate plea to save the dog. The encounter began with Milei apologizing for his informal attire, telling her, "Forgive me for being dressed like this; I am always in a suit on television." She recounted that she did not recognize him from television and that Conan's final hours became the entry point to a relationship that would eventually connect her work to Argentina's highest office as Milei rose from a combative pundit to president, with his dog central to his public image, according to The New York Times.
Melamed traces her entry into this practice to intuition noticed in childhood and refined through courses years later. She presents her method as direct communication with animals without fully explaining the mechanics behind it, according to Clarín.
