MidOcean Energy, the liquefied natural gas company founded and managed by EIG, announced on Friday the successful completion of its 2026 capital raising round. The company secured more than $4 billion in capital commitments, including both closed commitments and those finalized over the past 12 months from new strategic and institutional investors, alongside significant follow-on investments from existing backers.

The volume of capital committed by investors significantly exceeded the company's original target of $2 billion, reflecting ongoing confidence in MidOcean's strategy, asset portfolio, management team, and long-term growth outlook. The capital raise includes commitments from strategic investors, sovereign-linked institutions, and financial investors. New investors include the private office of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Idemitsu Kosan, NYK Line via Diamond Gas MidOcean, The Arab Energy Fund, Shizuoka Gas, and several Korean institutional investors.

Strategic Expansion and LNG Growth

Proceeds from the capital raise are expected to enhance MidOcean's balance sheet flexibility and position the company to advance a robust pipeline of LNG growth opportunities, spanning cash-flow-generating assets and projects under development. MidOcean has built an LNG asset portfolio extending across Canada, Australia, the United States, and Latin America, continuing to evaluate value-accretive opportunities in line with its disciplined investment approach.

R. Blair Thomas, Chairman of MidOcean and CEO of EIG, commented on the completion of the fundraising round:

"The progress achieved in this capital raise marks a significant milestone for MidOcean and supports our strategy to build a large-scale, diversified, and resilient global LNG platform. We are delighted to welcome a distinguished group of new investors and thank our existing shareholders for their continued support and trust."

Global Energy Security

Thomas added that LNG will continue to play a vital role in supporting energy security and global economic growth, with MidOcean well-positioned to capitalize on these long-term market fundamentals. De la Rey Venter, CEO of MidOcean, noted that the company has evolved rapidly from a concept into a fully integrated global LNG platform, strengthening its financial flexibility to pursue aggressive growth strategies.
