Murder in Silwan and Itamar Ben Gvir's Response

A man in his 30s was murdered last night during a violent incident in East Jerusalem, stemming from a conflict between families. Another person was critically injured. Following the incident, riots broke out in the village of Silwan, which included, according to police, gunfire, fireworks, and the throwing of Molotov cocktails.
Police forces and Border Police officers were called to the scene to restore public order. During the operation, police reported that forces identified two suspects who endangered their lives while brandishing cold weapons and Molotov cocktails. Officers opened fire, and both suspects were killed on the spot.
At the same time, footage was released of the violent brawl that preceded the murder, showing the physical confrontation that escalated into the subsequent violence.
Towards midnight, MADA received reports of two men injured in the incident. Medical teams arrived and declared the death of a man in his 30s, who suffered from penetrating wounds. Another wounded person was evacuated to the hospital in critical condition.
Following the incident, the Jerusalem District Police opened a murder investigation. Jerusalem District Commander, Nitzav Avshalom Peled, arrived at the scene to conduct a situation assessment.
Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir addressed the incident and criticized the media's reporting:
"When I claimed that the media lies to the public and counts as murdered in the Arab society even those who were shot during a police operation, the media rushed to shout: 'Fake'. So here: all night the left-wing media reported on '3 murdered', cried about 'bodies piling up at the police station' and asked 'Where is the police?'"
Itamar Ben Gvir added:
"And the truth? Two of them threw stones and Molotov cocktails and were shot by our heroic police officers during the incident. This is exactly the consciousness engineering I was talking about."
Police stated that large forces remain in the area and order has been restored. The investigation into the murder and the circumstances leading to the escalation continues.
