Melisron Begins CEO Search Following Ofir Sarid's Tragic Passing
Melisron launched a CEO search following the tragic passing of Ofir Sarid. Liora Ofer approached Mizrahi Tefahot CEO Moshe Larry, while former Azrieli Group CEO Ron Avidan emerges as another leading candidate.

Melisron has initiated a search process for a new CEO to succeed Ofir Sarid, who tragically passed away from an illness less than a month after its diagnosis. Calcalist has learned that the executive search firm owned by Maya Aviran has been mandated to submit recommendations to the search committee after conducting candidate interviews.
Leadership Candidates and Connections
It was also revealed that Liora Ofer approached Mizrahi Tefahot CEO Moshe Larry to explore his potential appointment. The bank is under the joint control of Eyal Ofer, Liora's cousin, and Dudi Wertheim, creating regulatory sensitivities around such a move. Larry has reportedly not yet responded to the inquiry.
The search committee comprises Melisron controlling shareholder Liora Ofer, who also serves as chairwoman, alongside vice chairwoman Smadar Barber-Zadik and Aviran herself. Liora Ofer previously held a stake in the bank prior to the forced separation of the Ofer family's business holdings in 2018 under the concentration law.
Another prominent candidate is Ron Avidan, who recently stepped down as CEO of Azrieli Group in August 2025. Avidan previously served for seven years as CEO of Ofer Investments, giving him a deep and longstanding familiarity with Liora Ofer and the company's real estate portfolio.
Interim Management and Next Steps
Following Sarid's sudden passing, Chief Financial Officer Oren Heilinger was appointed interim CEO until a permanent successor is chosen. Heilinger is also viewed as a potential candidate, though his chances are considered moderate.
The search process, managed alongside Maya Aviran, is expected to take between two to three months as the company looks to stabilize leadership for its extensive operations, which include the Ofer Malls network.
