Social Equality Minister May Golan appeared for questioning at the Lahav 433 police headquarters on Sunday for the third time in less than a week amid a corruption investigation. Her defense attorneys, Adi Carmeli and Amit Hadad, stated that the minister is answering every question posed by investigators and refuting all suspicions against her, adding that it is time to conclude the probe and close the case.

The interrogation follows intensive questioning last week, during which Golan was interrogated for nearly ten hours over suspicions involving corruption and the appointment of political loyalists. According to reports, police had prepared to issue an arrest warrant against her after she allegedly refused to report for questioning for months.

The ongoing investigation comes as Golan faces a diminished political future following the Likud primaries, where she placed 23rd, positioning her 40th on the party list for the upcoming Knesset elections. With her parliamentary seat unlikely, she will not enjoy legal immunity.

Four months ago, police announced that the National Fraud Investigations Unit (Yahak) within Lahav 433 had concluded its probe regarding Golan and associated public servants, forwarding the findings to the State Attorney's Office. The high-profile investigation, authorized by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, initially began as a covert operation before moving to an open phase in September 2025 over allegations including bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and obstruction of justice.
