Matti Caspi: The stories kept secret for 10 years
Publisher Hanoch Saar and Matti Caspi's wife, Raquel, are collaborating on a new series of children's books based on the esteemed musician's stories, accompanied by illustrations by his daughter, Soyan.
A cornerstone of Israeli music is about to reach the world of children: the publisher of the 'Saar' publishing house, Hanoch Saar, is embarking on a new project, in which a series of children's books based on stories written by Matti Caspi will be published.
The journey began about a decade ago, when the esteemed creator signed an agreement to publish a first book, which included one story out of several he had written. Caspi even read the story at a festival that Saar held at the Zionist House of America in Tel Aviv. However, the work stopped at a certain point and the book was never published.
Recently, renewed contact was made between Saar and Caspi's wife, Raquel. The two decided to collaborate within the framework of "Matti Caspi's Legacy," with the goal of producing the series. The first book will include three of his stories and will be accompanied by illustrations by his daughter, Soyan.
As recalled, Matti Caspi has been considered since the seventies one of the greatest composers and creators in Israeli music. Over the decades, he has produced cultural assets and won immense appreciation thanks to his musical complexity and uncompromising style. In recent years, Caspi has dealt with health difficulties that led to a slowing of his activity, but his work continues to influence. Now, the book series will give the public an opportunity to get to know another rich creative aspect of the artist's world.
