MK Avi Maoz sharply criticized Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Reuven Ladiansky for opposing a planned Chabad synagogue in Ramat Aviv Gimmel, questioning opposition to Jewish worship.
MK Avi Maoz criticized Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Reuven Ladiansky on Wednesday over a video opposing Chabad emissaries who requested to establish a synagogue in the Ramat Aviv Gimmel neighborhood.
Maoz Slams Deputy Mayor
In a video shared on his X account, Ladiansky declared his intention to use his authority to prevent the move, stating that Chabad is attempting to take over public spaces in the neighborhood.
"Who would have believed that in the Jewish state we need to fight for the right to operate a synagogue?" Maoz stated.
Planning Committee Authority
The local planning and building committee, which has the authority to approve changes of designation, consists of ten council members, including Ladiansky. Therefore, the deputy mayor cannot make a unilateral decision to block the request without professional backing.
The Tel Aviv municipality stated that every request is examined by professional authorities according to standard planning regulations.
