A serious incident occurred early Saturday morning, October 3, at a hotel in the town of Santanyí on the Spanish island of Mallorca. A 20-year-old German tourist was arrested on suspicion of breaking into a couple's hotel room and assaulting a sleeping woman while her husband was in bed beside her, according to the Spanish news agency Europa Press, citing a statement from the Spanish Civil Guard.

Police were called to the hotel following reports that a man was being detained in the reception area after unlawfully entering a guest room. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect alongside the affected couple and hotel staff members.

According to the investigation, the young man entered the room through a sliding balcony door while the couple was asleep. He did not force the door or steal any belongings, but allegedly approached the sleeping woman and attacked her. The woman woke up and pushed him away. With the assistance of her husband, the two managed to expel him from the room and lead him to the front desk, where he was held until police arrived.

The explanation provided by the suspect to the police was just as unusual as the incident itself. The young man, who according to police was under the influence of alcohol, claimed he acted following a challenge featured on an application. Police did not disclose which app was involved, nor whether the claim was verified. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of unlawful entry into a residence and handed over to the competent judicial authorities for further proceedings.
