Ignoring a court order: Couple sued for tens of thousands over a safe containing only 50 shekels
A Tel Aviv couple failed to clear out a safe rented from Brixton despite a court order. After the company performed an authorized break-in and found only 50 shekels, they were sued for over 21,000 shekels in accumulated storage fees.

It turns out that keeping a single banknote in a secure safe can become an expensive business: a couple from Tel Aviv did not clear out a safe that contained only 50 shekels and were subsequently sued for tens of thousands of shekels in storage fees.
In June, the court issued a ruling allowing the clearing of a private safe that had not been emptied for a long period. When the safe was finally broken into, only a symbolic sum of 50 shekels was discovered inside. About two weeks ago, a monetary lawsuit was filed in the Magistrate's Court against the couple by "Brixton Safes," a company that operates secure storage facilities in Israel and abroad.
The lawsuit claims that the couple, who rented a storage unit containing a personal safe, failed to clear it out at the end of the rental period in May 2025 and ignored repeated demands from the company. Following this disregard, the company sought legal action and received a court ruling in June ordering the evacuation of the rented property.
"The defendants rented a secure box and simply decided not to clear it out on the date they signed for. There is no connection between the contents of the safe and the price or scope of the rental, and we also do not have the ability to know what the contents are, because opening the box is completely private and is done by the client and in their presence only," said Attorney Dvir Indig, CEO of Brixton Safes.
The lawsuit states that 399 days of delay had passed until the actual break-in, resulting in a debt of more than 21,000 shekels. According to the rental agreement, the client is charged double the daily rate for every day of delay in returning the safe. The company is now demanding payment of the debt, plus interest, linkage differentials, and legal fees.
The defendants stated that they have not yet received the lawsuit and maintain that they paid all required fees and returned the keys. Brixton Safes noted that they had contacted the couple dozens of times via phone, WhatsApp, and email to settle the matter, but to no avail.
