Mahash: Yoav Eliasi and three police officers questioned on suspicion of breach of trust
Rapper Yoav Eliasi arrived at the Police Investigations Department following a Haaretz report alleging he used his role as a standby unit commander to prevent the closure of a club where he is a partner. According to Mahash, three police officers are also suspected of breach of trust. All four were released under restrictive conditions.
The Police Investigations Department (Mahash) questioned three police officers today, Wednesday, including an intelligence coordinator, on suspicion of aiding and providing police leniencies to a nightclub owned by the brother of Yoav Eliasi. Eliasi himself was also questioned as part of the case. All four were questioned under caution on suspicion of breach of trust, the department announced.
Following the interrogations, the four were released under restrictive conditions: the three officers are barred from police facilities for three days, and Eliasi is barred for one week.
Additionally, Mahash has collected testimony from other involved parties and stated that the investigation remains ongoing.
As previously reported, rapper Yoav Eliasi, known as "HaTzel," was questioned today after Minister of Internal Affairs Dani Levi decided to suspend him from his role as commander of a standby unit in Tel Aviv.
The suspension followed a report by journalist Josh Breiner in Haaretz, which alleged that Eliasi boasted about his police connections, claiming they helped prevent the closure of an entertainment complex in which he is a partner.
Attorney Ariel Atary, representing "HaTzel," responded:
"Yoav Eliasi arrived to provide testimony at Mahash this morning. He intends to answer every question and cooperate with investigators. Eliasi intends to explain that he never used police connections for the benefit of his brother’s club and that there was no substance behind the boasting statements he made in a private conversation with someone who was, at the time, a very close friend."
