A tragic explosion occurred today during a school trip by students and staff from the ORT Ma'alot high school. Initial reports indicate the blast was caused by unexploded ordnance, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation.

An unexploded item of ordnance, such as a shell, grenade, or mortar bomb, can remain dangerous long after combat or military training exercises. Such objects often lie hidden in open areas.

Authorities warn that a suspicious object cannot be identified as safe by its appearance alone. It may look rusted or harmless, but touching or moving it can trigger a fatal detonation.

Anyone who encounters a suspicious object must immediately move away, warn others, and contact the Israel Police via emergency hotline 100. If casualties occur, Magen David Adom must be called at 101.
