Broadcasters are easing us into the New Year with a modest selection of fresh content: Ma'abara, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Four Hands, Two Sonatas, The Arena, and a special interview. What to watch on television today (Sunday, Rosh Hashanah):
On Reshet 13, Ma'abara returns with a new season of the comedy-drama by Shalom Asayag and Daniel Asayag. The show transports viewers back to the 1950s and follows the Ben Simon family, who immigrated from Morocco and were sent to live in a transit camp. Following a debut season that explored the challenges of overcrowding, bureaucracy, and the jarring gap between the Zionist dream and the harsh reality of early Israeli society, the plot continues to chronicle daily life and the cultural clashes among immigrants from diverse backgrounds. Shalom Asayag reprises his role as Eliyahu Ben Simon, starring alongside Daniel Asayag, Shahar Hayon, Rubi Porat Shoval, Nadav Abecasis, Avi Grainik, Yigal Adika, Shlomi Koriat, Noa Cohen, Dani Steg, and Elay Almikies. Reshet is hoping for significantly higher ratings than the disappointment of the previous season.
In movies and streaming, Netflix offers library titles including The Wolfman starring Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, and Emily Blunt, as well as The Men Who Stare at Goats featuring George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, and Jeff Bridges.
