Israel's Youth National Team Defeats Norway by 59 Points
The 'blue and whites' cruised to an 84:25 victory over Norway in their second match of the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket Division B in Romania.
The girls' national team continued its impressive start to the tournament this Saturday evening, defeating Norway 84:25 in the second round of the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket Division B. The players coached by Roi Eisenberg showed complete dominance throughout the game, recorded their second consecutive victory, and reached a perfect 2:0 record in Group B.
Israel laid the foundations for the victory in the first half, mainly thanks to great defensive play and excellent shooting from beyond the arc. The team held Norway to just 17 points in the first 20 minutes, while on offense they hit 11 three-pointers at 47.8% and led 51:17 at halftime. Even after heading to the locker rooms, the 'blue and whites' did not take their foot off the gas, continued to press all over the court, and steadily increased the gap to a one-sided 84:25 at the end.
The start of the game was slightly hesitant, but Tamar Karmi and Maayan Gorin led Israel to an early lead, with Karmi scoring nine of the team's first 11 points. In the second quarter, the Israeli dominance continued with a barrage of three-pointers from Gorin, Or Gadot, Rotem Shtiklaro, Mika Kanitz, and others, which increased the gap to more than 30 points before halftime. In the third quarter, the Israeli defense limited Norway to just seven points, and in the final quarter, the Norwegians scored only one point.
