Israel Youth Basketball Team Misses Out on World Championship Spot
The Blue and Whites suffered an 84:64 loss to Greece in the classification round for 5th-8th places, officially ending their hopes of qualifying for next summer's World Championship in the Czech Republic.
The Israel youth national basketball team suffered an 84:64 defeat today, Saturday, against Greece, officially ending their bid to qualify for the World Championship scheduled for next summer in the Czech Republic.
Although Israel had previously defeated Greece during the group stage, the Greeks proved superior this time around. A dominant performance in the second half left the Israeli side with no path to victory.
Our team started the match strongly, finishing the first quarter with a 15:21 lead. From that point on, however, Greece took control of the game, limiting Israel to just 12 points in the second quarter. These offensive struggles persisted until the final buzzer, as the Greeks secured their spot in the 5th-6th place classification games.
Israel will compete tomorrow against the loser of the Turkey-Germany match for seventh place.
