L'Oreal's legal pressure in the United States is escalating. The cosmetics giant has hired restructuring advisors and is evaluating its options amid class-action lawsuits claiming its talc products caused illnesses. The legal exposure also relates to the use of other chemical ingredients in some of the company's cosmetic products.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, L'Oreal's US subsidiary is utilizing two professional firms to address the issue: the law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges and the investment bank Ducera Partners. The two firms are assisting the company in assessing its options following the wave of lawsuits.

At the center of the affair are individuals claiming that L'Oreal's talc products caused them illnesses. Alongside the talc-related lawsuits, the company faces legal exposure stemming from the use of other chemical ingredients in some of its products.

The retention of a restructuring law firm and an investment bank signals the step L'Oreal is now taking to address the legal risk. However, the report did not detail which specific options are being evaluated or whether the company has already made a decision regarding a particular course of action.
