"The industry has thrown up its hands": An unusual Seed round for the Israeli startup Way
Israeli startup Way Security has raised $20 million in a Seed round. The company is developing technology that allows for the integration of Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions with any system without changing a single line of code.
"Every organization in the world consumes identity management solutions: from Identity Providers, through IGA products, to PAM products like CyberArk. The common denominator is that they do not generate a gram of value for the organization until they are enforced on every identity and every information system in the organization — and that is exactly where the industry has thrown up its hands," explains Yossi Brishev, CEO and co-founder of the Israeli startup Way Security, in a conversation with Geektime, which was revealed today (Monday) with an impressive Seed round.
"Integration with applications has become an impossible task"
According to Brishev, the central problem is that no identity management solution today knows how to provide a full answer. The reason for this lies not only in the existing products but also in the software vendors themselves: over 80% of the applications on the market do not support the basic standard for access enforcement, and most of them require additional payment for basic capabilities like SSO support.
"To this are added problems like the lack of support for Legacy systems and Homegrown systems, which still constitute a significant part of the information systems in organizations," he details. "In addition, the software explosion brought by the SaaS revolution a decade ago has made direct integration with every application for every client an impossible task for the industry."
The solution: connecting to any system without changing a line of code
To solve these gaps, Way Security is developing a product that interfaces with any common identity management solution and creates a single, unified layer of truth regarding the organizational identity status. The solution is designed to provide an answer to edge cases in implementations, shorten implementation time from a year or two to a few days, and significantly cut costs, so that these capabilities become economically viable for every organization.
Brishev explains that the technology they developed, based on Agentic Connectors, allows connecting any identity management solution to any information system, regardless of the infrastructure it runs on or how outdated it is. Thus, it is possible to enforce any IAM control on any system and identity (human and non-human) — without prior knowledge, without installing components, and without changing a line of code in the client's systems. Above this layer, the company provides AI tools that allow teams to perform enforcement with higher speed and accuracy.
Way Security was founded last year by Yossi Brishev and Yonatan Rosenberg (CTO), both veterans of the cyber industry who worked together at Sygnia and knew firsthand the difficulty of implementing IAM systems. The startup was revealed, as mentioned, with the completion of a Seed round in an unusual amount of $20 million, led by the funds Insight Partners and Glilot Capital, alongside private angel investors.
