Lieberman Seeks Criminal Investigation Against Netanyahu for Treason
Yisrael Beytenu leader Avigdor Lieberman announced plans to ask the Attorney General for a criminal investigation against PM Benjamin Netanyahu for treason, accusing him of risking IDF soldiers for political survival.

Yisrael Beytenu leader MK Avigdor Lieberman announced on Monday that he intends to petition Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, demanding a criminal investigation against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for treason. Speaking in an interview with 103fm radio, Lieberman claimed that Netanyahu is attempting to drag Israel into a war driven by political motives and fear of losing upcoming elections.
"Netanyahu is clearly committing treason against the state when he seeks to drag us into a war, and his willingness to sacrifice IDF soldiers' lives simply out of fear of electoral defeat," Lieberman stated. He added that such readiness to risk troops for political survival constitutes betrayal. Lieberman also criticized Netanyahu's remarks regarding Iran, stating that the prime minister has lost touch with reality, oscillating between discussing cryptocurrency initiatives and atomic threats.
Addressing the severe friction between the political leadership and the military establishment, Lieberman asserted that tensions have reached an unprecedented peak. He emphasized that the chief of staff must strictly uphold the law, noting that any action risking a large-scale military confrontation requires proper government debate and a formal cabinet resolution.
Furthermore, Lieberman lambasted Netanyahu's economic statements regarding preparing for sanctions evasion through cryptocurrencies. Citing conversations with international financial figures and credit rating agencies, he reported widespread shock within the global financial markets. He also condemned Netanyahu for remaining silent over controversial political statements and attacks on public trust in democratic institutions, expressing total confidence that the opposition will secure victory and form a stable coalition in the next elections.
