51st Battalion soldiers report poor service conditions at Filon base
Soldiers from the 51st Golani Battalion have complained about service conditions at the Filon base, noting they must walk to the dining hall six times a day in 40-degree heat while officers use vehicles.
Soldiers in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade reached out on Wednesday to a Walla correspondent to address their service conditions at the Filon base, located near the Sea of Galilee.
"The distance from the living quarters to the dining hall requires us to walk a lot in each direction, including a steep and complex climb. It involves six walking segments a day, often in heavy heat of about 40 degrees. While the soldiers make this journey on foot, we see the command ranks and officers moving in vehicles," wrote one of the soldiers.
According to the soldiers, the busy schedule, intense heat, and physical exhaustion lead many to skip regular meals or spend significant amounts of money every month ordering food from outside, creating a heavy financial burden for those in mandatory service.
"We are proud of our service and do our job in the best way possible, but we believe that basic logistical support, such as accessibility to meals, is an inseparable part of caring for the health and well-being of the soldiers," the soldier added.
The soldiers are seeking to raise awareness of the issue to receive a proper response from the authorized bodies. A query on the matter was sent to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, but no response has been received yet.
