Police were stunned: Taxi driver drove for 20 years — and never obtained a license
The driver is a 42-year-old resident of Ma'ale Adumim. He had already been caught 8 times in the past. This time, it was decided to file an indictment against him and a request for detention until the end of proceedings.
Traffic police officers in the Jerusalem District arrested a taxi driver this week and were stunned to discover that he had been driving for 20 years without a license. The driver, a 42-year-old resident of Ma'ale Adumim, worked as a taxi driver in his area of residence and, after previous arrests, even began picking up customers in Jerusalem.
A check revealed that in recent years, the driver was caught eight different times for driving without a license, yet each time he returned to the road, endangering customers who were unaware of the truth. In exclusive footage of the arrest, detectives are seen asking the driver to present a license, while he pretends to search through documents to stall for time. A check of the police terminal revealed that the driver had never obtained a license, despite owning a vehicle since 2007.
To prevent him from returning to the road, this time it was decided to arrest him and file an indictment. Chief Warrant Officer Eli Matlov, commander of the Central Unit (YAMAR) of the Jerusalem Traffic Police, described the incident:
"As part of the cooperation of the Traffic Police Central Unit with other units, a driver was located who drives without a driver's license and was caught for the eighth time."
According to Matlov, the suspect was caught while driving his taxi near Givat HaTahmoshet. An indictment will be filed against him today, along with a request for detention until the end of legal proceedings.
