New X-Men revealed, Adam Driver cast as villain: Disney's big announcements
At the D23 convention, Marvel presented its new generation of mutants and revealed a trailer for 'Avengers: Doomsday'. Disney and Pixar announced sequels to 'The Incredibles', 'Coco', 'Zootopia', and 'Lilo & Stitch', as well as the return of 'Romy and Michele' and 'The Princess Diaries 3'.
Just two weeks ago at the Comic-Con fan convention in San Diego, Marvel Studios revealed a glimpse of their upcoming plans, including the casting of Ryan Gosling as Johnny Blaze for the next 'Ghost Rider' film and David Johnson as the new Black Panther. However, the biggest updates were saved for the D23 convention, the flagship event of Disney.
Kevin Feige officially announced the cast for the X-Men reboot, set for release in May 2028. Riding the wave of the massive success of 'Spider-Man: New Day', which recently crossed the two-billion-dollar mark globally, Marvel executives were in high spirits. Sadie Sink was introduced as the new Jean Grey, with Jake Schreier set to direct. Joining her are Indy Noverty (Rogue), Kit Connor (Cyclops), Samara Weaving (Emma Frost), Maya Boyd (Storm), and Christopher Abbott (Professor X). It was also confirmed that Adam Driver has been cast as the primary villain, Mr. Sinister.
Superheroes and a Galaxy Far, Far Away
This autumn, the series 'VisionQuest' will bring Paul Bettany back as Vision, who will face off against the super-robot Ultron, voiced once again by veteran actor James Spader. Fans eagerly awaiting news on 'Avengers: Doomsday' were treated to an exciting new trailer.
The 'Star Wars' segment featured Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen. The highlight was the announcement of 'Star Wars: Starfighter', directed by Shawn Levy. Ryan Gosling, who stars as the hero Cade, described the film as a "space version of 'Fast & Furious'."
Animation and Nostalgia
Disney and Pixar announced several highly anticipated sequels: 'The Incredibles 3' is coming next year, followed by 'Coco 2' the year after. Also in production are 'Lilo & Stitch 2' and 'Zootopia 3'. New projects include a TV series adaptation of the game 'Kingdom Hearts' and the fantasy film 'Ghost Market', expected in 2028.
Nostalgia took center stage as Anne Hathaway confirmed that 'The Princess Diaries 3' is in development, while Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino are set to reunite for 'Romy and Michele 2'. The event concluded with a look at the new animated film 'Hexed', featuring the voices of Hailee Steinfeld, Jodie Foster, and Walton Goggins, arriving in theaters this November.
