Star of Iconic Israeli Drama "LeGat BaOsher" Reflects on Leaving Fame Behind
Stars of the hit Israeli drama series "LeGat BaOsher" recently reunited after 26 years, prompting actress Sharon Dorani to reflect on her decision to leave the spotlight at the peak of her career to raise her family.
Almost 26 years have passed since one of the most successful television series in Israel's history first aired. To mark the milestone, the stars of the hit drama "LeGat BaOsher"—including Sharon Dorani, Neta Haber, Shira Arad, Yigal Zaks, Ilana Avital, and Oded Menster—reunited for a moving special in January.
A Dramatic Career Turn
For each of the actors, the show served as a major career springboard that continued to grow. For Sharon Dorani, it was a crucial turning point that propelled her forward to numerous roles and exceptional achievements. Yet at the height of her career, she was forced to halt everything and recalculate her path.
At the peak of her success, the actress stepped away from the screen and chose to dedicate her life to her family. Speaking on the program "Kimat Shabat Shalom" broadcast on Keshet 12, the beloved actress discussed the reasons that led her to leave her career behind. She has since attempted to return to the acting world on multiple occasions, sharing during the interview the kind of responses she encountered.
"At age 30, I gave birth to my first daughter and said 'that's it,'" Dorani recounted. "For so many years I was out there, fulfilling my dream. I was the most famous person in the country for many years and I did a lot of things."
Facing Closed Doors
The actress explained that the birth of her daughter prompted her step back: "And then I decided I wanted to be a full-time mom, to experience my family. Today I understand how meaningful those years were for me and my daughters."
She noted that after stepping out of the spotlight, several attempts to return to the forefront proved unsuccessful:
