Is Lee Biran becoming religious? "Shabbat is a gift, the source of blessing"
Singer and actor Lee Biran (36) speaks openly about faith, the importance of the day of rest on Shabbat, and the moving video in which he put on tefillin alongside his son Nevo: "God is everything, and you are also part of God."
Artist and creator Lee Biran shared the spiritual concept that guides his daily life in an interview with the newspaper "Israel Hayom". Among other things, Biran reflected on a moving post he previously shared online. In the video, Biran is seen putting on tefillin at home alongside his son Nevo, blessing him and explaining that he is the greatest blessing in his life.
Biran explains that for him, faith is expressed through human and family connection: "When I look into someone's eyes, especially where there is true love, I see God." According to him, when he looks at his wife Eliana, his son Nevo, his parents, or his brother, he experiences a divine presence.
"God is everything, and you are also part of God," Biran elaborated. "It is not some old man sitting in the heavens who punishes you if you do something bad or gives you a gift if you do something good. God is everything."
A central part of his worldview is reflected in his decision not to work on Shabbat. Biran shared an insight taught to him by the late Rabbi Jonathan Sacks regarding the difference between "urgent" and "important":
"All week we deal with what is urgent, and on Shabbat, we deal only with what is important. It gives you perspective and forces you to ask yourself, 'Wait, is this important or urgent?' And when you become a more precise person, a blessing arrives."
Biran emphasizes that the break from work on Shabbat is not perceived as a burden, but as a gift: "Shabbat is a gift, the source of blessing." The rest on Friday and Saturday provides him and his family with precious quality time and recharges them with renewed strength.
