The UK parliamentary ethics watchdog has launched an investigation into Richard Tice, deputy leader of the far-right Reform UK party, following suspicions that he breached rules by failing to declare a potential conflict of interest during a debate concerning Israel. This was reported on Monday afternoon by media outlets in the kingdom.
The parliamentary commission responsible for upholding the code of conduct for members of parliament in London confirmed that it opened an investigation into Tice on July 28. Tice, like his party leader Nigel Farage, is known as a staunch supporter of Israel. Tice himself confirmed the reports that the investigation concerns a complaint regarding a parliamentary debate that dealt with Israel.
In a video Tice posted on Facebook last month from that same debate event, he is heard fiercely defending cooperation with Israel in the fields of entrepreneurship and science, against the backdrop of calls for a boycott by British left-wing lawmakers:

The work they do and the innovation these people create—whether they are in the State of Israel or living elsewhere like London—has an extraordinarily positive impact on the success and health of us all. I want more partnerships with brilliant Israeli scientists, more entrepreneurs from Israel listing their companies on the London Stock Exchange, and more AI experts from Israel to share their knowledge for the benefit of us all.»
Later in the video, Member of Parliament Ayoub Khan is seen asking Tice: «Do you believe we need more AI weapons that Israel used to shoot at the genitals of children in Gaza?». Tice replied: «The best way to ensure peace is to prepare for war, so that our adversaries respect us.» Immediately after, Tice continued to call for cooperation with Israel, noting the distinction between criticizing specific politicians and criticizing the state itself.
