Transfer of an object between vehicles exposed a drug deal: two suspects arrested
A young man passed items to a passenger in a vehicle in Ma'alot-Tarshiha, and a police search uncovered various types of drugs, a folding knife, and evidence allegedly linking the two suspects to drug trafficking.
A drug deal was caught in the act during proactive operations by Northern District police officers in Ma'alot-Tarshiha. During the patrol, officers noticed a vehicle parked on the side of the road, and next to it, an individual who appeared to be receiving an object from a passenger inside the car. The officers stopped the vehicle for inspection and found two suspects inside. A search of the car revealed a large quantity of substances suspected to be various types of drugs, with a total weight exceeding one kilogram gross. In addition to the narcotics, officers seized a folding knife and further evidence allegedly linking both individuals to drug trafficking offenses. The two suspects, 19-year-old residents of Akko, were arrested on the spot and transferred to the police station for questioning. Following their interrogation, they were brought before a court, which extended their detention. This morning, the police are expected to request an additional extension of their remand.
