Security establishment identifies rise in terror alerts originating from abroad
Directives are primarily coming from Iran and Hamas, targeting Israelis in Judea and Samaria. A senior military official emphasizes that the IDF's role is to prevent any terror event that could ignite the region.
The security establishment has recently identified a significant rise in the volume of alerts regarding intentions to carry out attacks in Judea and Samaria. These directives arrive mainly from outside Israel and originate from Iran, Hamas abroad, and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
A senior military official stated that the motivation to carry out attacks in Judea and Samaria is high, and the lack of success increases this motivation further. Alongside this, the security establishment identifies the growing difficulty among terror elements abroad to execute significant attacks. This difficulty increases the motivation for attempts to carry out attacks in the sector in order to create a psychological achievement.
«Our role is to prevent any terror event that could ignite the sector», — said a senior military official.
Security forces are currently operating with the goal of thwarting terror events against Israelis. Ongoing activity includes the confiscation of weaponry, arrests, and interrogations every night. In the last week, the forces of the Judea and Samaria Division arrested about 60 suspects, among them terrorists who planned to carry out attacks in the immediate timeframe.
The IDF has raised alert levels and reinforced forces in the sector ahead of the Tishrei holidays. The Chief of Staff decided to keep an additional regular division on standby for the Judea and Samaria sector in case of escalation. The army stated that the background for this decision is the rise in nationalist crime, as well as fears regarding a widespread Palestinian response.
