Real Madrid is not stopping: the president of the Blancos, Florentino Perez, has approved the advancement of the Rodri deal after months in which no talks were held between the parties. Following this approval, Real Madrid contacted Manchester City for the first time and began verbal discussions. The Spanish club noted that they are prepared to offer a sum of over 50 million euros for the midfielder.

Real Madrid's approach comes after Rodri displayed exceptional ability in the last World Cup, where he won the title with the Spanish national team. At the end of the tournament, Rodri was named the best player of the World Cup, having been a central part of the team's lineup throughout the entire campaign.

In addition to Rodri, Real Madrid is having a busy summer of acquisitions, having already added several senior players to strengthen the squad. The club signed left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea (for about 55 million euros), right-back Denzel Dumfries from Inter (for about 20 million euros), and added center-back Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool and midfielder Bernardo Silva from Manchester City on free transfers.

Rodri's career includes peak years at Manchester City, where he moved from Atletico Madrid in 2019. During his time in England, he won league titles, the Champions League, and in 2024, he received the "Ballon d'Or" award after winning the Champions League and the Euro in the same season. Now, a potential move to Real Madrid could see him return to his hometown.
