Rabbi Shlomo Yehuda Bari, known as "The Young Rabbi," found himself in an unusual legal drama after obtaining a restraining order against Israel Friedles. Friedles demanded the rabbi testify in court, and the final decision on the matter remains pending.
Rabbi Shlomo Yehuda Bari, known as "The Young Rabbi" (HaYenuka), is considered a rising star in the rabbinical sector, connecting many audiences at only 37 years old.
Last Sunday, The Young Rabbi obtained a restraining order against Israel Friedles, and on Thursday, he appeared in court to testify against him, according to a report by journalist Tuvia Yaglnik.
Friedles is known primarily for publishing recordings and claims against The Young Rabbi, and it is alleged that he is behind various articles targeting the rabbi. Friedles arrived at the hearing and represented himself. He demanded that the rabbi also appear to testify in court. Friedles conducted a direct "cross-examination" in court and confronted the testimony of The Young Rabbi. The court's decision on whether to extend the restraining order has not yet been published.
As recalled, this is not the only legal affair surrounding the young rabbi. The "Tfila LeZion" association, which operates The Young Rabbi's synagogue, has in recent months filed an urgent administrative petition to the District Court in Lod against the Rishon LeZion Municipality and the Local Planning and Building Committee.
The petition, filed through attorney Ilan Bombach, details serious allegations of a "series of illegal and thuggish actions" intended to dispossess the association of the property where it has operated for over 15 years. According to the petitioners, the municipality acted illegally, involving extortion and threats. The rabbi himself claimed that he was extorted by the Rishon LeZion Municipality, stating that the municipality demanded he waive his synagogue's rights as part of a raid.
