Northern Israel to be cut off from rail network this weekend: list of closed stations
Infrastructure works and track upgrades in the Zevulun area will lead to changes in train traffic in Haifa and the North from August 20 to August 22. Stations including Nahariya, Akko, Karmiel, Afula, and Beit She'an will be temporarily closed, and Israel Railways will operate a free shuttle service.
Israel Railways has announced essential infrastructure works and track upgrades in the Zevulun area, aimed at improving service and travel safety. The works are scheduled for the summer, a period when demand for train travel is lower, and will lead to temporary changes in train traffic in the Haifa and Northern regions from Thursday, August 20, through Saturday night, August 22, 2026.
As part of these changes, trains on the Modi'in Central–Nahariya line and the Be'er Sheva Central–Karmiel/Nahariya line will terminate at the Haifa Center HaShmona station and will not continue north. Additionally, the lines connecting Haifa Hof HaCarmel to Karmiel and Atlit to Beit She'an will not operate at all.
Many stations, including Nahariya, Akko, Karmiel, Afula, and Beit She'an, will be temporarily closed for service during this period.
To assist passengers, the railway will operate a free shuttle service and reinforce regular bus lines. Train traffic is scheduled to return to its full regular timetable on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 4:00 AM.
