Ministry of Health: All Haifa beaches closed for swimming until further notice
The Ministry of Health has ordered the immediate closure of all Haifa beaches for swimming due to abnormal sampling results from a sea water quality test. The public is requested to follow the instructions and avoid swimming until an official update is received.
At the peak of the summer season, with hundreds of people currently at the beaches, the Ministry of Health issued an urgent announcement on Monday stating that all Haifa beaches must be evacuated immediately and closed for swimming.
The ministry stated that this decision follows abnormal results from sea water quality tests, the causes of which remain unclear at this stage. Consequently, the public is requested not to enter the sea until further notice.
Repeat water sampling will be conducted throughout the day. Depending on the results and the Ministry of Health's guidelines, a decision will be made regarding the continuation or lifting of the swimming ban. "The public is requested to follow the instructions and avoid swimming until an official update is received," the statement read.
Just about two weeks ago, the Ministry of Health announced the temporary closure of two popular Haifa beaches, Hof HaCarmel and Hof HaStudentim, following abnormal microbiological findings. A few weeks prior, two of the most popular beaches in the central region were also closed to swimming due to abnormal water pollution.
