Ministry of Construction Revokes Licenses of Five Contractors Following Violations

The Registrar of Contractors at the Ministry of Construction and Housing revoked the licenses of five contractors last week, after inspections raised suspicions that the engineering professional upon whose employment the license was granted is not actually employed by the companies.

The licenses were revoked from the companies A.K. Abu Shahin Ofar ve-Mischar Ltd., Shwarzberg Mordechai, Issa Marom Koach Adam ve-Shmira Ltd., Arminia Bniya Ltd., and Lumko Group Yazamut ve-Bniya Ltd.

According to the Ministry of Construction and Housing, in all five cases it was found that the professional factor that served as the basis for the contractor's registration in the Contractors' Register was not actually employed by the company, contrary to the declarations submitted during the registration process. The findings were verified, among other things, through National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi) data, inquiries with companies where those individuals were actually employed, and conversations with the employees themselves.

The contractors were summoned to a hearing before the Registrar of Contractors, with the participation of investigators from the Administration for Regulation of Occupations at the Ministry of Labor. As part of the examination, the professional responsibility of the individuals who served as the basis for obtaining the license was also examined.

The Ministry of Construction and Housing noted that contractors are required to continuously meet the conditions of the license and ensure that the professionals upon whom the registration is based are indeed employed by the company in accordance with the law.
