Today a prominent media figure, Eyal Berkovich was once a footballer who dominated the top tier of European football long before his career in television and radio. After retiring from the game, he admits that nothing excites him quite like it did in the past.

In the podcast “The Magician and His Sons” from “HaPodium,” where he appears alongside his son Lior and his friend Yoav Gvizon, the two were asked what sets them apart. “You’re a boring person; you’re afraid to step outside your comfort zone here in Europe. Go out once, see the world,” Lior remarked.

Eyal explained: “Does that mean I don’t love life? That I hate flying? After I retired, I searched for that thrill, and then I realized that since nothing excites me the way it used to, I need to change my approach.”

“I told myself that I wouldn’t find a thrill like the one I had in football. I have to get used to the fact that simple, small things bring me happiness. Being at a restaurant is exciting. Sitting with my partner for dinner — that is exciting,” he added. — “There isn’t an evening where I don’t go out to have fun. There’s no such thing. I just don’t talk about it or post it on Instagram. So, do I not love life? I am in love with life; I devour life.”

Following his father’s words on the podcast, Lior decided to take action and posted a story to his Instagram account:

“Because of the latest Reels from the podcast, it was very hard for me to hear that Dad has nothing left to be excited about because he has already fulfilled everything. So I went and tattooed the word ‘thrill.’ Onward.”
