Captain Hagai Mayer Elected Chairman of the Israel Airline Pilots Association
Mayer, an El Al captain and long-time council member of the Pilots Association, also serves as IFALPA Vice President for the Middle East: "We will focus on the struggle for an independent and strong Israeli aviation."
Captain Hagai Mayer was elected today as Chairman of the Israel Airline Pilots Association, replacing Captain Midan Bar, who completed an eight-year term. Hagai Mayer, 60, is a captain at El Al and has been a member of the Pilots Association council for 11 years, serving as Vice President of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations (IFALPA) for the Middle East.
He brings a wealth of experience with over 10,000 flight hours in the Air Force and the civil sector. He served as a fighter pilot in the Air Force, a squadron commander, and held training positions in both military and civil aviation. He also possesses diplomatic experience, having served as an IDF military attaché and representative of the Ministry of Defense in Italy, Greece, and Serbia.
Hagai Mayer stated:
"I am proud to hold the position of Chairman of the Association and thank my predecessor, Captain Midan Bar, who led the Association to become a significant body in the world of aviation in Israel and beyond. We are in a complex geopolitical period where the world of aviation is a strategic and central component, especially as Israel is an island nation with frequent security fluctuations. We will focus on the struggle for an independent and strong Israeli aviation, on the care and cultivation of commercial airline pilots, on the preservation and development of aviation infrastructure befitting an advanced country, on safety issues, alliances, and foreign relations, and on strengthening the world of flight and aviation in Israel."
