National Insurance Institute to Disburse Education Grants in Three Days
As the school year approaches, the National Insurance Institute is preparing to distribute annual education grants to help families cover back-to-school expenses. Below are the details regarding eligibility and payment procedures.
Ahead of the start of the school year in September, the National Insurance Institute pays the annual education grant on August 11. The purpose of this grant is to assist families in financing the significant costs associated with purchasing school equipment, textbooks, and uniforms. This payment serves as a vital relief for many families dealing with the rising cost of living, especially at this time of year.
The grant is primarily intended for independent parents, including single-parent families, as well as divorced, widowed, or separated parents. Additionally, large families with four or more children who receive subsistence allowances from the National Insurance Institute—such as income support, alimony, or general disability benefits—are eligible for the grant. Assistance is provided for school-age children entering grades 1 through 12, in accordance with birth dates defined by law.
The grant amount is updated annually and depends on the child's age and the grade they are entering. Generally, amounts range from approximately 1,100 to 1,800 shekels per child. For the vast majority of eligible recipients, the funds are deposited automatically into the bank account where the monthly child allowance is transferred, requiring no further action.
However, individuals who have recently become independent parents, or those who are separated and have not yet regularized their status, must submit an initial claim online via the National Insurance Institute website to receive the payment.
