Las Vegas authorities released toxicological reports in a tragic murder-suicide case where a mother killed her young daughter before taking her own life in a hotel room.
A tragic case in Las Vegas has concluded as authorities released toxicological reports detailing the substances found in the bodies of a mother and her young daughter who died in a hotel room in February.
Toxicological Findings
According to the newly released coroner's report, young Addie's blood contained several medications, including Quetiapine, Gabapentin, Lorazepam, and Diphenhydramine, alongside caffeine. The mother's system contained similar pharmaceuticals, as well as sleeping aids, antidepressants, and cannabinoids. Prescription medications and THC products were also recovered from the room at the Rio hotel, alongside handwritten notes, one of which stated that the child was heavily drugged prior to her death.
Authorities determined that Addie died from a gunshot wound and her death was ruled a homicide, while the mother's death was classified as suicide. Police indicated that the evidence points to the mother killing her daughter before taking her own life.
Custody Battle Context
The incident followed a prolonged, multi-year custody dispute between the mother and the girl's father. Although court documents showed frequent modifications to custody arrangements, authorities have not officially designated the custody battle as the direct motive for the tragedy.
"Addie was a beloved girl who left a mark on her teammates," her cheerleading squad shared in a tribute following the tragedy.
