The circus artist fined in Netanya: "I'm tired of being treated like a criminal"

Circus artist Elroi Netzach Morag received a municipal fine of 730 NIS from Netanya municipality inspectors following stunts he performed on the city's streets. The event led to significant frustration and surprise on his part.

During the encounter, the municipal inspector explained the reason for the fine and clarified the authority's position:

"For the fact that you are doing stunts at a crosswalk and disturbing pedestrians, you are not allowed to do this."

The circus artist, stunned by the enforcement, replied to the inspector on the spot:

"This is a profession that people all over the world do. I do it all over the country and have never been fined."

In an interview with the program "HaOlam HaBoker" ("The World This Morning"), Elroi Netzach Morag revealed the culture behind traffic light performances, showing that it is not about begging or a nuisance, but about hard work and complex art. Morag also discussed the financial aspect of the field:

"On good days, I reached a daily wage of 1,200 to 1,300 shekels."

Alongside these revelations, Morag pointed out the absurdity in the wording of the fine:

"It is written that I caused a disturbance to pedestrians and risked a ball falling on them, even though I did not use balls at all; I was doing handstands on a ladder."

Response of the Netanya Municipality:

As part of the routine activity of the municipal inspection, a person with a ladder was found in the intersection area in a way that disturbed the safe passage of pedestrians and drivers. The fine was issued in accordance with enforcement powers and with the aim of maintaining public safety and ensuring free and safe passage in the area.
