Ahead of the holidays: Busiest days at Ben Gurion Airport and popular destinations

Over 3 million passengers are expected to pass through Israel Airports Authority facilities during the Tishrei holidays. Approximately 2.5 million passengers are anticipated at Ben Gurion Airport, with peak days reaching around 100,000 travelers per day. About 600 daily flights are scheduled during these peak periods. Additionally, 500,000 passengers are expected to cross land borders into Sinai and Jordan.

Following the 2.65 million passengers who passed through Ben Gurion Airport in August, the Authority is preparing for continued high volume throughout September.

Passenger Traffic Distribution:

• Ben Gurion Airport: approx. 2.5 million passengers.

• Land border crossings: approx. 500,000 passengers.

• Ramon Airport: approx. 81,000 passengers.

• Haifa Airport: approx. 60,000 passengers.

Peak Days and Destinations

Special flights to Uman will commence on September 6 and run through September 17. Peak days at Ben Gurion Airport are expected on September 10, 17, 22, and 25. The top destinations for Israelis this year are Greece, Cyprus, the USA, Italy, and the UAE.

Among land crossings, the Rabin (Arava) crossing will see the highest traffic with about 190,000 passengers, followed by the Allenby crossing (153,000), the Begin (Taba) crossing (100,000), and the Jordan River crossing (55,000).

Tips for Passengers

To manage the increased traffic, the Authority has reinforced its staff. Key recommendations include:

1. Terminal check and online check-in: Verify your departure terminal in advance and complete registration from home.

2. Luggage tags: Print your tags at self-service kiosks at the airport.

3. Fast track: Passengers with hand luggage only who have checked in online may use the fast track in sector W at terminals 1 and 3.

4. Bag inspection: Reservists and security personnel must thoroughly check their bags to ensure no bullets, magazines, or ammunition parts remain.
