“The Truth Came to Light”: Odeya Wins Defamation Lawsuit
Singer Odeya Azoulay has won a legal battle against a woman who spread false claims about an alleged affair. The defendant admitted in court that there was no truth to her accusations.
Odeya Azoulay won a legal victory this Tuesday in a case against a woman who published claims regarding an alleged romance with a married man. Odeya shared a post detailing that the woman, who claimed to be a “victim of betrayal,” admitted there was no truth to her words.
“Hi my friends, remember when they tried to pin a romance with a married man on me? So here is the truth that came to light following the proceeding I initiated in court. It is important for me to publish this mainly to give strength to anyone who pursues justice, anyone who goes through humiliation and knows that the truth is with them, anyone who absorbs insults and defamation without having done anything wrong,” wrote the artist.
The legal proceeding against Ms. Shulamit Asraf Danino has concluded. Ms. Shulamit admitted that there is no truth in the publications against Odeya and that there is not a single piece of evidence for the lies she spread on social media. “I have never met her or her husband. When these lying words were published, it was important for me to clear my name for the simple reason that I am sure any reasonable person will understand there is no connection between what was published and reality; it is a gross lie,” Odeya stated.
Addressing the “keyboard criminals” who rushed to write harsh things, she added:
“I forgive some of you — those who got carried away and wanted to be part of the wave because of social pressure. To those who promoted themselves and sought to profit from the false publication — less so. I hope that in the future you will learn not to rush to write things that could ruin people's lives, even if it gives you a platform or allows you financial gain.”
Finally, the singer thanked her close circle, family, managers, and lawyers who fought for justice. “If any of you are in a situation of this kind, know that this is an hour of grace; ask God for whatever you want. Do not despair, I believe that in the end the truth always wins, even if the road is long and sometimes seems black,” she concluded.
