Following the forecast, the national electricity system operator Noga provided Energy Minister Eli Cohen with an up-to-date status report regarding preparations for the expected peak demand. Noga emphasizes that preparations have been completed and that the company is continuously monitoring electricity consumption data, the availability of production sources, and the state of the system. The goal is to ensure a continuous, stable, and reliable electricity supply for the entire economy, even under extreme load conditions.
At the same time, the Energy Minister held a situation assessment with the management of Noga, the Israel Electric Corporation, and other government companies, with the aim of ensuring that the system is ready to cope with the expected rise in demand over the weekend. The system notes that last summer, electricity consumption records in Israel were broken for four consecutive days, when consumption crossed the 17-gigawatt threshold, but despite the high demand, no significant disruptions in electricity supply were recorded.
Energy Minister Eli Cohen stated:
"The energy sector has functioned flawlessly over the past few years and has proven its robustness and resilience. The citizens of Israel have someone to rely on, and we are working to ensure a regular supply under any scenario."
