The moving performance that aired on the “The Voice” program, and Eidan Reichl’s tears, continues to stir echoes in the public arena. One of the voices that joined the discussion is Knesset member Naor Shiri from the “BeYachad” party, who posted a special video in which he addressed the auditions and the message that managed to trigger many reactions among viewers.

In his remarks, Shiri opened with a personal tribute to the creator Eidan Reichl and spoke about the great appreciation he has for him over the years. According to him, Reichl managed to distill in a single moment the feeling that accompanies many families in Israel. In his view, it was precisely the simplicity of the message that succeeded in crossing divides and reaching the hearts of people from all corners of society.

Shiri explained that, in his eyes, the broadest common denominator today is not connected to political positions or worldviews, but rather to the basic desire of every parent to see their children return home safely. He said that the reality in Israel has changed the priorities of many families, and that whereas in the past parents dreamed of prestigious professions for their children, today the simplest aspiration is that they grow up healthy in body and in mind.

Later, he also referred to the mental distress in Israeli society and claimed that this is an issue that does not receive enough public attention. He mentioned that only during the last week, four suicide cases were reported, and said that, in his opinion, the public discourse surrounding mental injuries of young people, survivors of difficult events, soldiers, and additional citizens is far from sufficient.

“Just this week we saw that there were four suicides, and, well, a lot, a lot, a lot less is being talked about it than it should be. About this phenomenon — the soul of our children, the soul of the youth, the soul of the adults who went to dance and came back, and friends who were saved, and soldiers… This is an event that isn’t discussed.

Beyond that — this perfect distillation that Eidan gave in the context of what parents want their children to be when they grow up. You used to see a pilot, a lawyer, a doctor… Today it’s simply that parents want their children to just be okay.

Nothing more than that. That they shouldn’t be mentally wounded, that they should go through life’s experiences in a reasonable way… so that they’re simply okay.

And Eidan’s distillation yesterday was also from the heart, also precise, and he managed to make it accessible — the shattering of the heart and the concern of the heart in a perfect way.

And Eidan — you are a true king.”
