Following Tel Aviv: Jerusalem Raises Municipal Parking Rates

The Jerusalem Municipality announced today (Monday) an update to parking rates in municipal lots operated by the "Eden" company, the municipal economic development arm. The new rates will be implemented starting tomorrow morning.

The rate for the general public in the city center will rise from 18 to 22 shekels per hour, an increase of approximately 22%. In other areas of the city, the rate will increase from 12 to 15 shekels per hour, representing a 25% hike.

In the Talpiot area, the rate will remain unchanged at 12 shekels per hour as a complementary parking solution for residents, visitors, and business owners, in light of the extensive infrastructure and development works currently underway.

For Jerusalem residents, prices remain unchanged. The parking rate for holders of the "Jerusalemite" benefit remains at 11 shekels per hour in all municipal parking lots.

The municipality notes that this move is intended to regulate demand in city centers, encourage the use of public transport—with an emphasis on the light rail—and respond to rising operating costs, all while maintaining significant benefits for Jerusalem residents.

Officials emphasized that this is part of the mayor's policy to prioritize residents. Billing will continue to be based on actual minutes in accordance with the law, and a list of parking lots for the general public is available on the municipality's website.

This move follows a similar decision in August, when the "Ahuzat HaHof" parking company and the Tel Aviv Municipality raised parking prices by approximately 20% for non-residents. In Tel Aviv, the rate for non-residents for the first hour is now 24 shekels instead of 20, and for Tel Aviv residents, it is 6 shekels instead of 5. For the general public and one-time entries, the rate is now 36 shekels instead of 30, while for Tel Aviv residents, it is 9 shekels instead of 7.5.
