Shilat Naim, the mother of the missing person Eldar Dayan, heard from the news this morning, Thursday, that police officers, Border Police fighters, and volunteers had begun a search operation in the area where he was last seen, and that a body in an advanced state of decomposition had been located. She immediately decided to arrive at the scene herself to check if it was indeed her son, who has been missing since July 17.

At the scene, she confronted the police forces:

"Take me to the place to see my son, I will get there and tell you if it is him."

The police are trying to explain to her that it is not possible to take her to the scene, but she is not giving up. In the meantime, the body will be transferred to the National Center of Forensic Medicine for the purpose of completing the identification process and clarifying the circumstances of death, but the assessment in the police is strengthening that it is indeed Dayan's body.

The body was located between 06:00 and 07:00 in the morning in an open area, at a distance of about 150 meters from the gas station where Eldar Dayan and his friends were last documented. The complaint about Dayan's disappearance was received at the Dimona police station only a few days after the vehicle of the three was located, and according to the police's decision, the Dimona station was the one that received the responsibility to manage the investigation surrounding his disappearance.

Yesterday, at the end of a situation assessment held by the Central District Commander, Commissioner Amir Cohen, and also after the Dimona station in the Southern District updated that it had exhausted all search operations and lines of inquiry, the District Commander instructed to transfer the missing person's file to the responsibility of the Central District in order to concentrate all investigation efforts under one authority. This morning, extensive searches began led by the unit, in cooperation with police officers from the Petah Tikva station, Border Police fighters, and volunteers.

According to the suspicion, Dayan arrived at a meeting together with his two friends, and at a certain stage, a fight developed between the two groups. During the confrontation, according to the suspicion, the three tried to escape from the scene using the vehicle, and in doing so, hit 5 involved parties, who were lightly injured. After the incident, the vehicle was abandoned at a gas station in Petah Tikva. According to the suspicion, the license plates were removed from it before the three left the scene. Peretz and Barberman returned to Dimona, but since that moment, the traces of Dayan have disappeared.
