Shira, mother of the late Aner Shapira, was interviewed this morning (Monday) on 103FM, and addressed her surprising decision to join the party "The Zionist Home - The Reservists led by Chili Tropper and Yoaz Hendel".

"I am currently a candidate, and I hope that we will arrive and succeed. I am excited about this title," she shared. She further added:

"It is a title for me of taking responsibility. A title that says: 'I am here to do everything possible so that these elections bring us a better future'."

When asked why she chose to join Hendel and Tropper, while the party is currently not passing the electoral threshold in the polls and trails behind the lists of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, she replied:

"The polls? There are some and there are others. I very much believe that we are coming to be a home for everyone who is looking for a different home and different styles."

Shapira explained her vision: "We are practicing our mission; our mission is that there will be a broad government that takes into account the entire serving public. I am continuing on to influence. I want to influence policy and not just the execution of policy; strengthening public service is part of our mission." She also reflected on her many years of experience in public service: "I was built over twenty years, and I am continuing them forward. Public service for me is a goal and a target, and I wish every professional to work in public service, and to improve and upgrade the public service, because they do amazing things there that affect the whole country and all of us."

Regarding her son Aner, who fell in the heroic battle during October 7, she said: "Aner accompanies me every second, like he was with me before; I would talk to him and hear his perspective. I believe that listening to the children sharpens you. I continue to hear Aner, to listen to him and to consult with him. I need to be creative in imagining what he would say."
