British right-wing leader horrified by situation in Spain, proposes new anti-immigration plan

Nigel Farage, leader of a right-wing party in the UK, expressed his horror, alongside many others, at the scenes in southern Spain over the weekend, when tens of thousands of migrants crossed from Morocco into the European city of Ceuta in North Africa. After the footage reignited the European debate on illegal immigration, Farage entered the picture.

The right-wing politician revealed that if he comes to power in the next elections, he intends to use the navy to prevent boats carrying migrants from reaching the shores of the United Kingdom via the English Channel. Predictably, these proposals were condemned by other parties.

Farage did not stop there; he unveiled a 28-page plan detailing intentions to deploy the British Royal Navy to turn back small boats in the English Channel toward France—a proposal the government previously raised in 2020 before quickly abandoning it.

To carry out his plan, Farage would need to win the next general elections, which will not take place before 2029. This comes after Farage and his party led in the polls for approximately 18 months, but have seen their numbers fall in recent weeks amid a string of scandals and official investigations regarding their finances.
