Kevin Rubin's revealing confession: "I have no money to live"
Although he lived in a luxury villa with a rent of 44,000 shekels a month, in reality, the social media star was drowning in heavy debt until a major deal worth hundreds of thousands of shekels paid off big time.
In 2017, Kevin Rubin was still working in a pet store. The turning point came when he saw Neta Alchimister reaching 15,000 followers. At that time, after receiving about 40 rejections at auditions, he made a decision and set himself an ultimatum: "If I don't succeed within a year, I'm quitting." Rubin took a loan of 100,000 shekels and went to resign from his job accompanied by his mother, fearing they would think he was crazy, all to focus on one thing: creating videos for Instagram and YouTube. He learned to edit by himself, started uploading sketches, and within just one month, he had already gained 10,000 followers.
To take the content a step further, Rubin moved to live in a creators' villa in Even Yehuda with a crazy rent of 44,000 shekels per month. While the media began to cover him and a report was made about him under the headline "The Young Millionaire," the reality was completely different: Rubin was in deep debt and admitted: "I don't have money to live." The group at the villa focused on having fun and filming videos, and that is where he met his partner, Daniela. After two months in which he spent 120,000 shekels, he realized he had a "bomb in his hands."
The commercial breakthrough came when a large company asked him for content for half a year; he bought special clothes for the meeting, demanded a budget of several hundred thousand shekels, and when the budget was approved, within a week and a half, the group moved to a villa in Caesarea and continued to produce unique content until the project ended a year later, as Rubin tells in the podcast of Nelly Tagar and Liron Weizman.
Today, after performing in five Festigals and deciding to skip this year due to a heavy workload of projects, Rubin keeps his feet on the ground. For him, money is a measure of success compared to other things, but he avoids buying expensive items, except for a house. His dream is simple and focused: to continue hosting, doing YouTube, and most importantly, to be healthy.
